Whatcom County Emergency Management has issued a county-wide stage 1 burn ban effective July 10, 2026. The ban prohibits outdoor burning of any kind, including campfires and fireworks, to reduce wildfire risk during hot, dry conditions.
Clearing skies are expected through the weekend, with clouds in the morning giving way to sunshine in the afternoon, according to the county's daily briefing. The weather forecast also notes a possibility of showers on Friday, but no precipitation is expected for the weekend.
The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice, as officials monitor fire danger conditions. The county will continue to provide daily updates through its Civic Alerts system.
