State Route 9 will operate with a single lane near Kalloch Road (MP 59) starting August 3, 2026, with alternating traffic through a bypass road for 42 days until September 14. The change is for fish passage construction along unnamed tributaries of Nookachamps and Hansen Creeks.
WSDOT states delays are expected in the area during the work. The project webpage provides more details on the construction timeline and traffic management.
The same project will also require alternating traffic on SR 9 just south of Mount Vernon Big Lake Road (MP 49) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays through September 3, 2026.
