Anacortes (5-1, 5-1 NWC) had won a 48-47 shootout with defending 2A state champion Archbishop Murphy on Sept. 18, and was looking to claim another key conference victory over perennial powerhouse Lynden. But the Lions (5-1, 5-0 NWC), whose lone loss was to Class 3A Ferndale Sept. 18, used a punishing run game to capture their first win over the Seahawks in four years. “We invited the whole town and I am really happy for the boys to show up for the entire town,” Lynden coach Blake VanDalen said. “We haven’t got to do that very often. I was glad our kids had an opportunity to redeem themselves.” Lynden's Matthew Maglione recovers a fumble by Anacortes QB Ryan Harrington.
