I-5 Lane Closures, Bridge Work Planned in Bellingham Area

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Starting Saturday night, Sept. 12, the right lane of northbound I-5 will close from Alabama Street to State Route 539 for maintenance. This closure runs from 9 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday.

WSDOT is conducting multiple construction projects in the area. From June through October, northbound and southbound I-5 will use temporary bypass roads near Chuckanut Creek for fish passage construction. Additionally, nightly lane reductions on I-5 near Alger/Lake Samish Road will continue through Sept. 11. State Route 9 will have alternating traffic over Klein Ditch bridge until further notice, and SR 9 will also have flagger-controlled closures from Maleng Road to Rothenbuhler Road daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the week.
