I-5 Fish Passage Work Continues Through Sept.

I-5 construction near Bellingham continues with lane closures for fish passage projects. Southbound I-5 will close the left lane nightly from 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. through Sept. 3, north of North Lake Samish (exit 246). Northbound I-5 will close the left lane nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Sept. 4, north of the same location.

Temporary two-lane bypass roads are in use near Chuckanut Creek (milepost 247) around the clock through Oct. 31. Crews are installing new fish passable structures, with a 50 mph speed advisory. Single-lane reductions on I-5 near Alger/Lake Samish Road (exit 240) will continue nightly through Sept. 10.

The work is part of WSDOT's fish passage project on I-5 tributaries.
