WSDOT has announced multiple highway closures effective late August through early September for construction and maintenance work. Starting Thursday, Sept. 3, up to two lanes of southbound I-405 will close overnight from milepost 12 to Coal Creek Parkway until 5 a.m. Friday. Overnight closures will also affect I-90's eastbound Factoria Boulevard off-ramp from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4, and I-405's northbound lanes from milepost 11. 5 to 13. 7 nightly through Sept. 4.
The closures aim to accommodate infrastructure work including pavement repair, utility upgrades, and fish passage construction. For example, I-5 near Alger/Lake Samish Road (exit 240) will see reduced lanes nightly until Sept. 10 for fish passage construction. WSDOT advises drivers to expect delays and follow detour signs during the work periods.
Drivers should plan for overnight closures on I-405, I-90, SR 527, and SR 20 through early September. Detours will be signed, and work zones will require reduced speeds and attention to flaggers.
