I-405, I-5, SR 14, SR 169 closures scheduled

WSDOT has announced multiple highway closures affecting Bellingham and surrounding areas starting August 10 through September 21, 2026.

Two Express Toll Lanes on northbound I-405 will close nightly from August 10 to August 14 between mileposts 17.45 and 18.12. The northbound I-5 off-ramp to northbound Southcenter Parkway will close nightly from August 10 to August 14 between milepost 154. Additionally, SR 169 will close both directions from August 17 to September 21 for fish barrier removal near Jones Lake.

Travelers should plan ahead for delays, especially during overnight and weekend closures. The I-5 paving project near Grand Mound will have double lane closures through August 29, and US 2 west of Cashmere will have single-lane closures Mondays through Thursdays until mid-September.
