Ferry Dry Dock, Parking Closures, Burn Ban

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

The Whatcom Chief ferry will depart for dry dock on Sept. 12 and return to service Oct. 4, according to a county alert. Two ferry parking lots will close temporarily from Sept. 8-11 for maintenance.

A county-wide stage 2 burn ban is in effect until further notice, prohibiting all outdoor burning. Gale warnings and wind advisories are also active for coastal waters and western areas, per the emergency management briefing.

Residents should plan for ferry service disruptions and avoid outdoor burning during the burn ban period. The Lummi Island Ferry resumed service after passing a Coast Guard inspection on Aug. 27.
