Bellingham swimmer to compete at UNC-Wilmington

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Dylan Fisk, 18, will compete for the University of North Carolina-Wilmington men’s swim team this fall after graduating from Squalicum High School.

Fisk, who began swimming with the Bellingham Bay Swim Team at age 11 under head coach Chris Coghill, credits his late father, Tim Fisk, for motivating him to succeed. Tim Fisk died of brain cancer in 2021 when Dylan was 13, leaving a message that Dylan says he took as a challenge to prove he could still achieve success.

Fisk said his father’s death, along with overcoming self-confidence challenges, drove him to become a nationally recognized swimmer. Before swimming, he tried baseball, basketball, and soccer but found no success in those sports.
