Bellingham Public Schools began the 2026-27 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 31, with all grades in session, according to Superintendent Greg Baker's message to families and staff.

Preschool, kindergarten, and Promise kindergarten students will start on Wednesday, Sept. 2, the district noted. The district's strategic plan, The Bellingham Promise, emphasizes 'together we achieve more' as its theme for the year. Baker highlighted the district's sixth annual Block Party held on Aug. 22, where hundreds of students received backpacks, books, haircuts, and athletic physicals from community partners.
