Bellingham Maintains Fireworks Ban for 2026

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Bellingham has reaffirmed its decade-long ban on consumer fireworks for the 2026 Independence Day celebration, prohibiting all types including fountains, sparklers, and rockets within city limits.

Fire Chief Bill Hewett emphasized that the ban helps residents enjoy the public Fourth of July show safely, noting Bellingham has one of the best displays in the region. Violations carry fines ranging from $250 to $1,000, with law enforcement authorized to seize fireworks immediately.

The city plans extra patrols July 2–4 to enforce the ban and educate residents. The annual Peoples Fourth of July Spectacular at Zuanich Point Park will offer a safe alternative for fireworks viewing.
