Bellingham Highway Closures Planned This Week

WSDOT announced multiple highway closures in the Bellingham area effective this week. On Aug. 5-6, the right lane of northbound SR 522 will close between SR 202 and the SR 9 overpass. On Aug. 4-5, two lanes of I-90 will close between Eighth Avenue South and the floating bridge. On Aug. 6-7, the right lane of eastbound SR 526 will close near Evergreen Way.

SR 291 remains closed both directions between Assembly Street and Swenson Road due to a wildfire, starting Aug. 1. I-405 will have several closures: the North 30th Street on-ramp will close Aug. 7-10, and the 112th Avenue Southeast on-ramp will close the same dates. Southbound I-405 off-ramps to I-90 will close overnight Aug. 3-4. The left toll lane on southbound I-405 near SR 520 is also closed for maintenance.

Drivers should expect delays and use signed detours where provided. All closures are scheduled to end by Aug. 10, with SR 291 remaining closed until further notice.
