Bellingham Bans Consumer Fireworks

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Bellingham Police Department announced a citywide ban on consumer fireworks effective September 17, 2026. The ban prohibits the sale, use, and possession of consumer fireworks within city limits.

The ban aligns with existing Washington state law that prohibits the use of consumer fireworks in most jurisdictions. Bellingham Police Department enforcement will focus on preventing injuries and property damage associated with improper fireworks use.

Residents are urged to attend city-organized fireworks displays instead of using personal fireworks. The city will host a public display at Fairhaven Waterfront Park on July 4, 2027.
